Welcome to Handmade in PA.net!

Welcome to the new home on the web for Pennsylvania artisans, crafters, craft lovers/shoppers, supply stores, craft fairs, etc… I’m so excited to bring you the best of the best in the PA handmade movement. To the best of my knowledge, this is the only site of its kind!

I’m kicking off this week (and this brand new year!) with a round-up of artisans from different parts of the state. I hope you find something new, something helpful, or something to buy from a neighbor! First up: Harrisburg and the surrounding communities. This is my old stomping ground and the ‘burg will always be first in my heart.

Yarn Love is a great knitting/crocheting supply store in Hummelstown. With a wide variety of yarns, needles, and a calendar full of classes, this shop is a must-visit in the Central PA area.

Pineapple Sugar Seaglass Simplicity Earrings

Pineapple Sugar Seaglass Simplicity Earrings

I love these earrings from Pineapple Sugar’s Etsy shop. The brown color would complement so many skin tones & outfits. They make a statement without shouting!

Ultra Punch Monster Pillow

How about this fun pillow from Ultra Punch? I love the expression on its face!

Handpickeds Coffee Cozy

Handpicked's Coffee Cup Cozy

Does that daily coffee trip leave you feeling guilty of the waste associated with this modern convenience? One way to easily reduce what ends up in the trash can is to bring a re-usable coffee cozy along. I love the funky orange & brown print on this one from Handpicked’s Etsy shop.

If you’re interested in picking up a new craft, check out the non-credit arts & crafts courses at Harrisburg Area Community College. Meet some new people, learn a new skill, and have fun – all at the same time!

This list, of course, is only a small sampling of the handmade goodness available in Central PA. Do you have a favorite craft store, gallery, or artisan in the Harrisburg area? Please leave a comment below with your suggestion so that I can include them in a future post.

Tomorrow’s post will feature the artisans & crafters of Philadelphia. And Monday, I’ll be hosting our first HiP giveaway, sponsored by Baby Vagabond.

Don’t forget – Handmade in PA is always looking for shops/crafters to feature, sponsor giveaways, and share insight as guest contributors. Please email me at tara AT handmadeinpa DOT net for more information.
