Time for another installment of Friday favorites. I have been shocked at the number of new PA shops catching my eye when I use the ever-popular Shop Local function on Etsy. Independent art & craft is thriving in this great state and I’m so glad to be a part of it!

Handmade in PA.net Flickr Pool
In the spirit of all things new, I want to announce yet another way to share your work with the rest of the HiP community. I’ve just started a Handmade in PA.net Flickr pool. You’ll need to request to join but, after that, you can upload pics to the pool and see them appear here on the site in the right sidebar. The pool is also connected to the @handmadeinpa Twitter feed – going out to over 700 followers every hour!

Also, VIX Emporium, Philadelphia, has opened its doors again! Emily is rocking & rolling and looking for new consignors to fill the shop with handmade goodies. For more information, check out the consignment information page on their website.

Thanks for the mention, Tara! I am looking mostly for gift items, jewelry, accessories, housewares and baby items. I would love some spring/summer scarves, and I don’t have a single wallet! No clip earrings either. I need some fresh journals too. I’m not so interested in clothing though, as we don’t have a fitting room. And I have plenty of tote-style bags, but would love some smaller bags and clutches. Anything that would make an awesome, affordable gift, especially for Mother’s Day or Father’s Day! Bring it on! :)

If you get the opportunity to check out the Spring Celebration at Spacial Anomaly Gallery at 1944 South Street this weekend, you will find original art, lots of artist designed jewelry, and other works of art from local Philadelphia artists. The event previews on Saturday from 11 to 6, and there will be a brunch reception on Sunday from 11 to 6. Artists Nicole Pelligrini, David Carrozzino, and Pidge Molyneaux will be present to talk about their work.
