A Day In the Life: Kim of BBBellezza

Hello everyone! I am Michelle Harvey, one of the newest contributors for Handmade in PA! I am excited to bring you the “Day in the Life” series, starting with Kim of BBBellezza. Enjoy!
July 15, 2009
6:00 a.m. Alarm goes off…hit snooze
6:23 a.m. I finally quit hitting the snooze and get out of bed and get ready for work (I hate mornings, but once I’m up, I love them).
7:20 a.m. Leave for work at my day job (I am a paralegal)

7:30 a.m. Check my email for B.B. Bellezza, log into Twitter, check facebook.
8:00 a.m. Type up 2 blog posts for Outta the Way. My boyfriend and I write a zine and have a blog about traveling to out of the way places.
8:36 a.m. Since I am actually at work, I start doing some work for my employer. ( I will spare you all the very boring details.)
8:45 a.m. Realized that I meant to re-open my Etsy Shop, which was on vacation because I took extra inventory to an Open House I had over the weekend.

8:50 a.m. Back to day job things. While there, I usually am on twitter and check email after I complete tasks or in between work projects. I may be online constantly, but I do actually get a lot of paralegal work done, too. I love twitter since you can check in really quickly.
11:30 a.m. I start to write out my blog post for my upcoming virtual open house (although, by the time you read this, it has already past!)
12:00 p.m. Take lunch break!

1:00 p.m. Back to day job: meetings, preparing documents (see, I told you boring!)
4:00 p.m. I leave my day job and take my boyfriend to work (we’re sharing a car at the moment since mine died!)
4:30 p.m. Finally home. Take a 30 min. break to veg in front of the TV. Normally I would just play a game on Facebook or something like that to chill out.

5:00 p.m. Take photos of new jewelry outside.
6:00 p.m. Taped a video for my Virtual Open House.
6:30 p.m. Upload photos from earlier photo session and start to edit photos. Lots of photos to edit from previous day, too.

8:00 p.m. Price and package products to take to the Hodege Podgery.
8:30 p.m. Leave to pick up boyfriend from work
9:15 p.m. Eat supper that we picked up on the way home. (Usually I cook something at home, but didn’t feel like it tonight.)
9:45 p.m. Changed a necklace for someone who needed a different type of clasp.
10:00 pm. Finally make jewelry!

11:30 p.m. Bed
I am a graduate of Albright College with a B.A. in Visual & Apparel Merchandising. After years in the fashion/ retail industry, I am now a WAHM. I am a self-taught jewelry designer and owner of Michabella Creations.

It is so impressive to me that you are able to find the time to be so creative AND have a full time job! When I was working full time I could only do crafty things on the weekends- I would be so tired. And I don’t think I could do what I’ve been doing now AND a full time job!
Great post!:)

She’s an inspiration :)

Thanks! I don’t have any of my own kids, but my boyfriend has a daughter we have every-other-weekend. I couldn’t do this with a full-time kid. I actually try to NOT work on the weekends unless I have a show so I can actually spend time with Jim and his daughter if we have her and re-coop!

Kim is my best friend, and I can assure you she is the hardest working woman I know. She has such a desire to be creative that it takes over where mere mortals would just jump into bed from exhaustion. And she is a very good Paralegal. She deserves many kudos.
