Go Local Pennsylvania

Happy Holidays everyone! I’m stepping out a little this week. Afterall, it’s not your average kind of week. I’m treating myself to wander a little.

I started off thinking about what ’s left on our to-do lists.  A-ha! groceries….. food.  Pennsylvania is a terrific place to be looking for food. How about a little something special for your table produced down home in PA!

I started out at Pennsylvania’s Buy Fresh Buy Local site. Then I wandered over to Central Market, the country’s oldest continuously operating farmers market. I found a vendor spotlight on Long’s Horseradish. Made totally by hand and sold almost exclusively at the market.

How about that great photograph [I warned you I was going to wander]! It was taken by David Schrott (Philadelphia). I love his most recent Illinois [farm]  photographs.

So if you’re not in need for some horseradish, how about some “Vrapple!” Is this a riot or what?

It is made in Holtwood with locally grown and milled cornmeal, buckwheat and other organic ingredients.

You just can’t deny it. Pennsylvania has it all.

Merry! Merry!

Kate seems to know what I need or what I should be considering before I do. Her spotlight shines on some very interesting products.

Vrapple? Now that’s a new one. Gotta say I’m pretty curious:)

Thanks gals! I appreciate it. Yeah, I’m pretty curious about “vrapple” too. Maybe there should be a scrapple vs. vrapple showdown?

I second the call for a scrapple v. vrapple showdown.

“Vrapple”…. hmmmm… my husband is a fan of scrapple. I’m not. This might be worth looking into! We both like polenta and this sounds like it might be similar.
