The New Year is almost here and with it comes new opportunities and new challenges. Here are a few suggestions as you gear up for marketing in 2012 with renewed energy and focus:
- Review your past year. What marketing methods (online and offline) seemed to work? Did you or your product generate a lot of buzz at some point? Through what methods? Why? What didn’t work? Why?
- Develop a content calendar. Sit down with a 2012 calendar and start to pencil in your shows and exhibits and content related to those events that you could share. And keep the calendar in a format that makes it easy to add more ideas (I use Excel). More about this in my next Ready Set Share post on 1/12/12.
- Read up on new trends. The marketing world has changed and there’s more and more emphasis on the digital world. It’s a big learning curve for many and will require that you read up on new trends and technologies. It can be daunting, so make a resolution to read one or two articles (digital or print) each day. This can be especially easy if you follow some PR/Marketing folks on Twitter and/or Facebook.
Happy New Year!
