Jessie Hemmons, aka “Ishknits,” will discuss her experiences knitting life-size “cozies” for some of Philadelphia’s most recognized landmarks, and the diverse global community of artists who create politically-charged works of art with this humble material.
Wednesday, April 11 at 7:00pm: Heather and Hitoshi Ujiie
How will digital technology enhance or change the work of textile designers and artists who work with fiber? Artist-educators Heather and Hitoshi Ujiie will discuss their innovative work in the quickly developing world of digital printing.
Tuesday, April 17 at 7:00pm: Author Janet Koplos
Writer and critic Janet Koplos, co-author with Bruce Metcalf of Makers: a History of American Studio Craft, will discuss her latest project, a book devoted to the philosophy and aesthetics of functional pottery today.
