“ASPIRE: a retrospective of young talent” opens at the Pittsburgh Glass Center Friday with a free reception, as part of the monthly Unblurred event in the Penn Avenue Arts District.
The exhibition showcases 45 objects by 22 artists who spent a year in the center’s technical apprentice program. During their apprenticeship, the young artists learned the fundamentals of running a glass studio and made glass art.
Opening reception runs from 6 to 9 p.m. and the exhibit continues through May 20. Also on Friday evening, artisans will demonstrate glass blowing and flame working in heat-defying acts of art at the Glass Center, 5472 Penn Ave., Friendship. Call 412-365-2145.
