“One of the greatest joys in life is decorating my home for a holiday.” -Me
I love decorating, love holidays, and the older I get, I love Halloween more and more. Anyone want to psychoanalyze that for me? If you do, spare me your findings.
I am just smitten with the flexibility decorating for each season allows me–I can get certain things out or keep things packed away, depending on my mood or the look I’m going for, move things around through the season, create displays and scenes, work in elements from nature, or a new piece I pick up while I’m out, etc. As Evie is growing, she certainly takes a more active part in helping me decorate (or un-decorate as the case may be). I always looked forward to decorating before Evie was born, and now I love sharing my ideas with her and getting her input, as well!
Here are some of the cool, creepy, and FREE displays I created this year!
Our Spooky-Ooky Potion Makin’ Station, complete with feline familiars!
I took the (really cool!) picture of it at night with Instagram.
A spurned wooden sign got a second wind advertising the services of a crafty witch.
Our Evie Gallery Wall became a display of *free* vintage bat prints from my new favorite website Vintage Printable.
Yes, I am going to fill in the other frames, I’m just not sure with what yet. They’re 11″ x 14″. I thought of maybe putting in pieces of fabric, but I’m open to suggestions!
Our framed vintage map of Shakespeare’s England and my antique church pew got a visit from the Cheesecloth Fairy. Creepy and free!
Oh, how I heart repurposing! Happy Halloween everyone!
