The Fabric of Peace is an ongoing collective project begun in 2008. Women artists from around the world are making individual fabric squares to create traveling quilts. This is a positive statement by women, connecting women’s shared interest in creating and keeping peace in the world.
The originator of the first Fabric of Peace quilt is Valetta, current president of the Regional Center for Women in the Arts, located in West Chester, PA. This amazing quilt is currently on display at Reformation Evangelical Lutheran Church. The church is located at 102 West Rose Tree Road in Media, PA, 19063. Their phone number is 610-891-0600.
A second peace quilt, organized by Christel is in the making right now! I met Christel at a party and she invited me to participate. Fabric of Peace II has an interfaith theme to it. The squares will be sewn together, then quilted. Each square maker has written what their religion/spiritual practice teaches them about peace, and these accompanying inspirations will be catalogued into a book that will travel along with the quilt.
All the squares have been collected and last week a group of women gathered to lay them all out and figure out which one should go where.
Most of the 96 squares were made right here by Pennsylvanians, but there are some from other states and countries too. At the very last minute one arrived from Turkey! (just in time for Thanksgiving) The finished quilt will be huge. Eight squares across and 12 squares down. Here are some close-ups.

Once this quilt is completed, I’ll post a picture of it on Handmade in PA, and let everyone know where they can go see it. If you know of a place that would like to exhibit it, please leave a comment.
Victoria O'Neill, a multiple mediums artist and owner of ArtyPantz Productions LLC has been sharing her creativity with people of all ages for years. "I love people and I love to make things. Creativity flows through me like a hose on full blast, spraying in many directions, all at once."

This is so wonderful and so beautiful! Victoria, I absolutely love your contribution to the quilt. I also really love the close-up of the two hands slightly over lapping. Thanks for sharing! Can’t wait to see the finished product.
