When I first started making my list of local shops and boutiques that I wanted to sell my Only Meesh scarves and cowls at, I went for the obvious hot spots including Nice Things Handmade, Art Star, and VIX Emporium. I started selling my cowls at Nice Things Handmade in November, but I never reached out to any of the other shops on my list because I got crazy busy with craft fairs and custom requests.
A couple weeks later, a good friend of mine from high school wrote me about possibly selling Only Meesh Handmade gems at her mom’s store in our hometown. I immediately remembered her custom framing store from when we were kids. How could I not—it’s right across the street from the Rita’s Water Ice on York Road! (Rita’s was our favorite hangout spot in the summer.)

M&H Custom Framing & Gallery is not just a framing store; it’s also a gallery filled with an abundance of paintings, prints, jewelry, home décor, and more. They are “artists and designers who bring creativity and knowledge to [their] clients’ framing needs.” Featured fine artists include Patrick Walsh, Tom McKinney, Karen Eckelmeyer, Michael Kuyper, Kelly Lutz, Joanne Turner, Scott Shelton, Sue Wright, and Aldo Luongo. Local crafts people include Jenn Rose, Wendy Collins, Giorgio Ferrari, Only Meesh Handmade (me), and many more. Even though M&H’s specialty is custom framing, it’s also a really great place to buy unique, handmade gifts.

M&H Custom Framing & Gallery hosts events at least once a month in the gallery. Their upcoming event in March is called Art Imitating Life. M&H is collaborating with other local businesses Make Me Glam, Photography by Kelly, and Salvatore Christian for a performance demonstrating how one artist’s creative vision and chosen medium of expression can bring to life a whole new vision—“art created from art.” I will be there as one of the featured artists!
